3rd year student studying Sport Science and Health in DCU. My main areas of interest include sports nutrition and exercise physiology.
The main reason why I've decided to participate in 100Minds is to raise funds for Temple Street children's hospital. The hospital does fantastic work for sick children and their families throughout Ireland. Hopefully, with the money raised, Temple Street will be able to buy state of the art equipment, fund research and put life back into tired old wards.
What I'd like to get out of the experience is obviously first and foremost to meet my target of €1000 raised over the 100 days but also to meet like-minded individuals who are also participating as well as to increase skills such as communication and project management. Having worked with on an internship over the summer, I helped organize numerous successful events, and these skills are something I hope to use over the next 100 days.
How am I going to do this? I plan to integrate sport and fun into my fundraising attempts as best I can as sport is a passion of mine. So far, I hope to introduce a GAA jersey day into local schools in Sligo and host a charity GAA 7 a-side tournament.
All donations are welcome in any shape or size and every little helps especially when dealing with such a great cause!
