My name is Karena. I'm currently studying my masters at Michael Smurfit Business School. I'm volunteering with 100minds and I would like your help to raise as many donations as possible for Temple Street Hospital.
Charity begins at home and for this reason, I have chosen to get involved with a children's charity as they are one of our most vulnerable in society.
All funds raised will go towards much needed life-changing equipment. Temple Street Hospital also provides a service called "Sibling Camps". This service enables brothers and sisters of sick children attending Temple Street to share quality time together as a family as they face the hardship and struggles under these circumstances. It provides them with the opportunity to learn more about the hospital's work and their sibling's illness. Seasonal social events are also held to help children maintain as much normality as possible during their stay at Temple Street Hospital. These events include Halloween Christmas and Easter to name a few.
How You can Help Any donations big or small can be donated online by clicking on the "Donate Now" link above, you can also donate directly to me or by supporting upcoming events.
If you would like more information on the work of 100minds donations and how they have contributed to Temple Street please visit: http://www.100minds.org/impact
Thank you for taking the time to read my profile, your support is greatly appreciated, and it will benefit the lives of children in need
Night Before Quizmas Christmas Quiz

This was a group event orgainsed by myself Caoimhe Beatty and Kaisi Chen who are also representatives of 100minds. We had two weeks to put our minds together and with the help of our mentor Alex we had a full house in the Mercantile Hotel. I would like to thank the Mercantile for the smooth running of the event and to Brown Thomas, Kartcity, Supervalu, Daft.ie and The Mercantile for their generous prize donations without them the night would not have been a success. .Between the door entry and raffle we managed to raise €1403 which was divided evenly between the three representatives.
The buzz of the experience motivated me to create the next event with great enthusiasm ad excitement despite doing it on my own!!
St Michael's College

For my second event I wanted to do something to involve my local community. I approached Aaron Copland the Transition year coordinator in St Michael's College, Ailsbury Rd, who happily came on board to raise much needed funds for Temple St Hospital.
A sponsored walk took place on the 22nd of December 2017, which finished up on Sandymount Strand. The students then participated in a 'Poc Fada' competition followed by a school raffle amongst the students.
I would like to sincerely thank St Michael's College especially Aaron Copeland and all the transition year students for their significant contribution. I would also like to express my gratitude to Gael Linn who sponsored a scholarship to Coláiste Bhun an Inbhir 2018, and to my local GAA club Kilbrittain GAA who kindly sponsored a Muster Jersey and to Muster Rugby who signed the jersey.
Between all involved we managed to raise €1616.00
Coffee Morning
Posted: about 5 years ago
My third and final event was to host a coffee morning. I hail from one of the friendliest and welcoming communities in Ireland in my hometown Kilbrittain, County Cork. Therefore, it was the perfect location for my event.
I would like to thank my sister Kelly Twohig, who is an up and coming award winning Culinary Arts student in Cork Institute of Technology, for her gracious input and attention to detail in the all preparation in providing luxurious cakes, and delights for the occasions. My grandmother, Ellen O’Reilly, who also contributed by baking her own secret recipes which went down a treat. I would like to express my sincere gratitude from the bottom of my heart to my parents Michael and Marion Twohig for accommodating the event and being exceptional hosts to the community of Kilbrittain. I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our Parish Priest FR. Jerry Cremin for his support and encouragement of this event, the local businesses for their support in advertising the event, the local newspapers for promoting the event. Finally, to everyone who attended our family home on Saturday, and to those who brought everything from cakes to breads and chocolates, and kindly donated to the worthy cause I thank you all and appreciate everything you have done to support my Coffee Morning for Temple Street Hospital.
All and all, the small community of my native Kilbrittain rallied together and raised €1500 for my campaign
