“No one is useless in this world who lightens the burdens of another”
This quote by Charles Dickens is what inspired me to get involved in the amazing campaign run by 100 Minds. However, I can’t do it alone. I need your help.
As part of the 100 Minds team for 2017/2018, I face the challenge of raising €1,000 in 100 days for Temple Street Children’s Hospital
The health care system has been heavily scrutinised over the past few years and financial support is essential in order to ensure that critical services, such as the ones provided by Temple Street Children’s Hospital, are accessible to all.
The donations we receive will be put to extremely good use. 1. Lifesaving equipment When a child’s life is at risk, every second counts. It is impossible to provide the best standards of care with outdated machinery. That is why this year, we are hoping to fund the replacement of vital pieces of life-saving equipment including eight Nasophayngeal Endoscopes for the ENT and Speech and Language Departments, as well as a VuMax HD A/B Ultrasound Scanner for Theatre.
Supporting families When a child is repeatedly in and out of hospital, there is an incredible amount of emotional and financial stress placed on their families, especially those who live far away or who have other children to take care of. Part of your donations will go towards The Hope Fund which allows the Medical Social Work Department to assess a family’s needs and offer them extra support when needed.
Protecting children’s childhood A child’s experience in hospital can often be very frightening and overwhelming. Some of the children cared for by the staff at Temple Street can spend extended periods in such an environment. Often, this can mean that they miss out on occasions such as Hallowe’en and Christmas. Your donations will help fund The Play Therapy Department which plays a vital role in helping to create a welcoming, non-clinical and fun environment for the children in our care. Every year, they host four special events at Easter, Summer, Hallowe’en and Christmas to help preserve the childhood of the children in their care.
Over the next few months, I will be hosting various events in an attempt to reach (and hopefully exceed) the €1,000 target. Details on these events will be published on my bio.
I understand that this time of year can be busy and stressful for everyone. If you are not able to attend the events, I would strongly encourage you to donate whatever you can by clicking the ‘Donate Now’ button above.
Temple Street Children’s Hospital do absolutely amazing work for sick children and their families from all over the country. However, they need support from people like you in order to continue caring for their patients to the best of their ability. Every donation, no matter how small, helps a great deal and helps lighten the burden of sick children and their families.
