Hi everyone, my name is Caoimhe Slemon and I'm a final year Commerce student in NUI Galway. I am absolutely delighted to be chosen for the 100 minds programme this year and will work hard to ensure that I raise vital funds for Temple Street Children's Hospital. 100 minds is an initiative which involves a 100 students across Ireland raising €1,000 each over the course of a 100 days, with 100% of the proceeds going to Temple Street Children's Hospital. ''Giving is not just about making a donation. It is about making a difference''. I hope that the money we raise can improve the life of a sick child.
First of all I would like to commend the work that all the doctors, consultants, nurses, therapists and all other staff at Temple Street Children's Hospital for the amazing work that they continue to do 365 days a year. For many families across Ireland they face the harsh reality of spending most of their time in hospital to make their brave little ones better.
This is where I tell you where your donations will be going this year:
In the race to save a child's life- every minute matters. This involves ensuring that the hospital is continuously upgrading and replacing vital pieces of life-saving equipment for these children. If you think about how far technology has advanced in the last few years - this is very similar to equipment and machines in hospitals that need to be regularly updated with new and improved systems. Through 100 minds- Temple Street hopes to purchase eight Nasophayngeal Endoscopes for their ENT and Speech & Language Departments, as well as a VuMax HD A/B Ultrasound Scanner for Theatre.
Patient And Paternal Support - When a child is sick in hospital it places a huge burden of emotional and financial stress on everyone. At Temple Street, they provide 'sibling camps' and support to the whole family through 'The Hope Fund'.
Play Therapy- Seasonal Events Programme. At Temple Street the strive to ensure that their children do not miss out on special occasions such as Easter, Halloween and Christmas. The play department hosts events to ensure that children can enjoy these special times of the year. The Play Therapy Department in Temple Street plays a vital role in helping to create a welcoming, non-clinical and fun environment for the children in their care.
I would be over the moon if you could help me on my journey in raising vital funds for these children. Every donation counts no matter the size.
I will be organising fundraising events after Christmas which involves selling my own paintings, so stay tuned to my profile for more info!
Thank you kindly for reading and also a massive thank you in advance for your support on behalf of Temple Street Children's Hospital & the 100 minds organisation.
