So what's this all about you're asking? Well, my name is Áine, I am a participant in the 100 minds programme, and I'm fundraising for Temple Street Hospital. The 100 minds programme is where more than 100 3rd level students come together, brainstorm ideas for fundraising, and go out into the big world and do it! This money will go towards providing a satellite classroom for young patients of Temple Street Hospital so they have the opportunity to still learn while they are in their ward.
As a student in Dublin City University, I understand how important education is for young children. Honestly, I didn't realise how lucky I was to attend school until I sat my Leaving Certificate in 2016. Taking it way back, I was a patient in Crumlin Children's Hospital when I was in 6th class in primary school. I was able to attend the classroom there and still develop my learning, even though I was absent from my own school for more than two weeks. Today I really understand that some kids who are in hospital don't get to attend such classrooms, therefore these funds will allow it to travel to them.
In our economy that rises and falls at each bend, I hope to raise €1000 through the goodwill of people. Any donation will help 100 minds in conjuction with Temple Street Hospital to provide the classroom service to children. As the saying goes; 'Every Little Helps'!
To quote just one last time, may the odds be ever in your/my/our favour!
