Welcome to my 100 minds profile. My name is Shane and currently a masters student studying Management Consultancy at the Micheal Smurfit Graduate Business School. I am really excited to be a part of 100minds this year, along with a group of young, enthusiastic and like minded students across Ireland. Together we aim to fund raise €1,000,000 for an extremely worthy cause; Childline.
100minds connects 3rd level students with a chosen charity and encourages them to run fundraising projects that will help develop their skill set and apply their theoretical learnings from college in a practical manner. This year 100minds are working with ISPCC Childline. Ireland's longest running charity deals with over 1,200 phone calls from children every day. Children all over the country depend on Childline's 24 hour services. Last year the organisation announced that they would possibly be ending its night-time phone services due to lack of funding, a time at which children need the most help. I couldn't be happier to be raising money for Childline and I feel really confident about contributing to such an amazing cause.
Any donation is really appreciated and will make such a difference to so many children across the country. Although very early in the planning phase, along with two other 100minds participants, we will be running a tag rugby event on the 9th of April in Limerick. The event will aim to achieve a minimum of 200 players and target young professionals and local businesses. We also intend to create a healthy environment involving non-rugby attractions that bring in a number of supporters on the day.
I will keep you updated on the progress of the event through social media pages and blogs.
This is a vital service for the children of Ireland and I would ask that you support this enterprise in any way you can.
