Firstly, I'd like to thank you for dropping by my page and taking the first step towards helping out with this years 100Minds' charity fundraiser; with all proceeds going towards Childline. I have proudly been selected to participate in this years event with many other enthusiastic, proactive students from all over the country. Together, we are working towards raising money for a super cause and plan on breaking records by reaching our goal of €1,000,000.
100Minds has chosen Childline as their charity for many reasons. In 2014 an emergency appeal was launched by Childline as they did not have enough money to support their 24 hour confidential listening service through the night. If this was not launched, many children would have been left in the darkness without anybody to talk to. 460,000 calls were made by Children in need last year; 300 of which were at urgent risk of suicide. These are the children of our future and they need to be heard. It is for this reason that we must pull together and raise the funding needed to train staff and keep this service open 24 hours 7 days a week; as you can not put a timeframe on a child in need. To find out more about this wonderful charity please visit https://www.childline.ie/.
What makes 100Minds stand out is the concept of encouraging each student to put their entrepreneurial skills to work by creating an event. By fundraising through creative and fun events we can raise money for charity in a different way (and can have a bit of craic along the way). In February, I plan on hosting a Blind Date Night in UCD, just in time for Valentines Day! We already have many students on board and I anticipate that it will be a brilliant night and will raise loads of money for Childline (and hopefully get some single pringles a date) - If you fancy coming along, click attending https://www.facebook.com/events/1665027340453230/
Finally, if you would like to make a donation on this page, please do so. All of the money goes straight to the charity and all you have to do is click "Donate now" . No matter how big or small the donation; every little goes a long way :)
