Hi everyone thanks for taking the time to look at my 100minds profile!
My name is Patrick Fehily and I am a second year commerce student in UCC. I have become involved with 100minds because I believe Childline is an extremely worthwhile cause and because I believe it is important for people, particularly for students, to offer something back, volunteer to help others and hopefully make a difference.
Just to let you know what 100minds involves, I will offer you a quick summary: Basically it involves 1000 students all trying to raise €1000 for a charity, which this year is Childline. In return for our help fundraising we receive valuable experience. Founded two years ago, almost €400,000 has been raised for children's charities, exceeding targets each year. This year we are aiming to raise over €1 million, so any donation you an afford, great or small, would be amazing, and make a real difference in the life of a child.
ISPCC Childline offers a free and confidential call-line operated by trained professionals on a 24 hour basis, as well a text service and online services. They received 600,000 calls last year alone, but face serious difficulties with funding; last year, due to lack of funding, they almost had to cut their night time services. With your help, we can help ensure that Childline can answer every call.
Thank you for taking the time to look at my profile, and thank you so much for anything you can give!
20th February -
So far by working with my friend Shane Dalton Hilliard, we have raised almost €500 collectively from our cake sale, and the same again from a bucket collection in Dealz on the Grand Parade, Cork.
At the moment we are planning a trip to Limerick on the 2nd March and a County Colours night in the Rock Bar on the 5th April, Just after Easter. Hopefully at this stage we will have reached our collective target of €2000, but along the way any donations would be extremely welcome.
