I am delighted to be apart of the 100minds team this year. I really respect the entire concept of giving motivated students a platform that enables them to make a real difference in society.
I am ambitious, organised, enthusiastic and love a challenge. I love to meet new people and find it breath taking when a group of strangers with a common goal come together to create something worthwhile.
As a commerce international student specialising in marketing, I believe I have the right skill set of creativity, drive and the knowledge of how people tick to successfully execute a campaign to raise €1,000 for Childline. This is exactly the kind of thing I see myself doing in the future as part of my career and so I am delighted with the opportunity to start early and gain real and worthwhile experience.
More importantly, while fundraising for Childline, it also means giving back and helping those most vulnerable in our society. I would love to make a real contribution and help children in trouble see the beauty of our world and experience the kindness of strangers while also putting myself to the test.
My Network: Sponsorship
Posted: over 6 years ago
• Another simple and effective method I utilised to raise funds for Childline was sponsorship. • I reached out to my network of business people, friends and family informing them that I was a participant with 100minds striving to fundraise for Childline. • I used the conventional method of letters to reach out to business people in order to convey the worthwhile task at hand. • I received an overwhelming response receiving 50% of the overall target through sponsorship alone.
Table Quiz
Posted: over 6 years ago
• My overall task was to raise at least €1,000 for Childline. • My action was the planning, organisation and management of a table quiz – a simple and effective idea. I got in contact with the bar owner to request permission to hold the table quiz. I advertised the quiz locally with posters in businesses, notices in newsletters, on radio stations’ websites, over Facebook and through word of mouth. I organised the question rounds and answer booklets. I gathered raffle spot prizes as well as prizes for quiz winners. • The night resulted in an overall success. I greatly exceeded my predicted target for the night and achieved over 98% of my overall target of €1,000.
