My name is Lauren, and I'm in my final year in Maths & Economics in Trinity.
This year, I have been fortunate enough to be chosen to take part in the amazing social enterprise that is 100minds. The fundraising project seeks to bring together 1,000 of Ireland's most innovative students in an effort to collectively fundraise €1,000,000 for an extremely worthy cause.
Each year the organizers of 100 minds pride themselves in choosing a charity that really needs our help and this year it is Childline. The service provides a telephone, text, and online chat service for children in Ireland that need someone to talk to in a confidential space. Volunteers are available 24/7 and aim to listen, support and give advice to young children that reach out for help.
Childline is a household name in Ireland at this point, however very few realize the funds required to ensure the service runs smoothly. All volunteers must be well-trained, phone-lines ready, and call centers stationed all around the country. Last year, due to lack of funding, childlike nearly had to shut down some of the service.
My personal goal is to fundraise over €1,000, through whatever means, and I am currently considering giving grinds as a way to reach this target. I will keep you all updated on my planning efforts via this page.
In the meantime, each and every donation will be great appreciated and given straight to Childline to help ensure that another child in Ireland has access to the listening ear that they deserve.
If you can spare a couple of minutes of your time to watch the video below you can see what a huge impact your small donation can have in these children's lives: https://www.100minds.org/impact
