Hi, I'm Kayleigh. I am an 18 year old BCL student in Dublin City University, currently in my second year of a three year degree.

I'm privileged to have been chosen as a 100minds participant for the year 2016, where our aim is to raise 1 million euro of vital funding for Childline. Each student has a target of 1,000 euro, and through various organised projects in university or community, we strive to reach our target- and more.

100Minds was set-up by a man named Declan Egan in 2013, giving students a platform to put their education into a positive and extremely beneficial project in order to do something, in which I feel, is very important in our society- charity. The chosen students are like-minded and clearly are focused on helping ISPCC Childline have the funds needed to cater to the need to the children in our society. They play a hugely important role in the lives' of kids across the country, being a source of confidentiality and support to kids suffering in unimaginable and toxic circumstances; something which can be easily pushed under the carpet if one is not familiar with such problems. Children call Childline to talk, or cry, or even to say nothing; the idea that they have a safe-place makes the burdens the face a little lighter on their shoulders. Children are very impressionable, therefore their problems or circumtances may take greater effect and impact to a greater extent than a mature and older person.

Therefore, we need to protect and guide the children in our society, simply due to the fact they are our future.

Throughout the next 5 months, I will be fundraising for this well-worthy cause. Any donation, big or small, will amount to a heartening possibility that thousands of children have the ability to be listened to- something which is very difficult for the volunteers to do if the funding is not provided.

Once again, Childline needs this crucial funding. The children need the crucial funding. Any amount is accepted and with great gratuity, if that means one child's life may be saved or improved, you have played a massive role.
