My name is Evan McNeice and I'm in my penultimate year of studying BESS, in Trinity College Dublin.
I decided to participate in 100minds this year, as I have seen the incredible impact that 100minds, its participants and their mentors have had in pervious years. Having the chance to be involved in an initiative to raise €1,000,000 for Childline is something that is truly humbling and I hope that all of your contributions help us reach that target.
Because I'm specialising in Business & Economics I love numbers! In 2014, Childline responded to 480,285 contacts from children. The breakdown shows:
♣ Calles received 652,382
♣ Calls answered 462,505
♣ Text conversations 11,555
♣ Web engagements 6,225
♣ Website hits 70,300
As you can see, there was an incredible 189,877 calls unanswered due to lack of resources in 2014. Your contributions will help Childline meet its emergency appeal and train more volunteers, so that the number of unanswered calls will reduce drastically over the coming years.
Childline is a fantastic cause to fundraise for. It was implemented to protect children, but its main function is to give them someone to talk to in a safe, non-judgmental and comforting environment, that allows children all over the country to share their issues and voice their concerns.
The ability 100minds has to exceed its set goals is astonishing, and I have no doubt that this year we will obliterate the €1,000,000 target! I am confident that we can make this dream a reality.
I am delighted to be part of this team and I look forward to educating people on the impact even the smallest donation can make.

I will be running a golf outing on Friday the 1st of April to try and hit my €1,000 target.
So far the course, Killiney Golf Club, has been booked and the golf will be followed by an extravagant three course meal. There will also be a raffle taking place on the night which will include some very special prizes, including a signed hat from Rory McIlroy!
Stay tuned for more updates in the weeks leading up to the event.
The Countdown Begins...

With about 6weeks to go, things are starting to take shape!
All slots for the outing are nearly full! For those players, we will have a lovely goodie bag upon arrival and some great prizes for the lucky winners on the day.
For the raffle afterwards, Sunway Holidays have kindly sponsored a extremely generous gift voucher. As mentioned before, there is also a signed hat from Rory McIlroy in their, and now a singed flag from Padraigh Harrington too. Hopefully there may be a few more pieces on the way!
If their is anyone interested in playing in the outing or joining us for the dinner and raffle afterwards, please feel free to contact me by email - email@example.com
That's it for now!
Lets keep moving towards that target!
Today's The Day!
Posted: over 6 years ago
After much thought and preparation, the day is finally upon us!
40players are confirmed for golf and an additional 10 will join for a magnificent three course meal afterwards. Afters will include a raffle, a wonderful after dinner speaker and a silent auction. There will also be some fun games to get all present involved, and all lucky winners on the day will receive some beautiful sponsored prizes!
It has to be the worst day of the week, but that won't stop the players from having a brilliant experience! Lets hope that everything comes together!
This, by no means, has been an easy ride. Balancing college assignments, exams and other projects has proved difficult, but the drive to help a fantastic cause like ChildLine has made the process extremely enjoyable and rewarding.
I want to take a moment to thank all the supports and sponsors of this event, including Dec and my mentor Paul. None of this would be possible without your help, so on behalf of myself, ChildLine and 100minds, Thank You!
Stay tuned for an update on final figures and how the event played out.
Let's go and break parrrrr..... I mean target!

Having given myself a week to recover and finalise figures, I can now confirm that we have surpassed the €1,000 target comfortably!
For the fundraiser, 40 people took to the fairways of Killiney Golf Club and roughly 50 attended the dinner which followed. The whole day was a fantastic experience (even if it did rain) and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.
Dinner was followed by a huge raffle, which included some rare pieces of sporting memorabilia, along with some other goodies. Over 1,000 raffle tickets were sold on the evening, as everyone was trying to give themselves the best chance of winning.
The winners of the golf on the day (2 very good friends of mine - I promise it wasn't rigged!), received magnificent prizes, kindly sponsored by Titleist & Footjoy. Second through fourth place also received wonderful prizes donated by Callaway Golf, Halpenny Golf and Titleist respectively.
The whole day was a brilliant experience, and I can't thank all of our sponsors enough for their generosity. Lucozade Sport, Eagle Distribution and Red Bull all donated towards the players goodie bags, and as mentioned above and in previous updates, winners prizes and raffle prizes were all generously donated.
Being part of 100minds has thought me so much, but most importantly, it has shown me what I am capable of achieving when focused. Having the ability to execute what was once a simple idea floating around in my mind has to be one of the most satisfying experiences.
I'd like to thank Dec and my mentor Paul for all of their help since the beginning, and giving me the opportunity to be part of this wonderful initiative. Being part of 100minds and raising money for ChildLine has been a fantastic journey, and I have met some incredible people along the way. I would strongly recommend people to get involved, if you have not done so already.
This will more than likely be my last update... but I want to thank everyone once again for their support and generosity since the beginning of this campaign. None of this would have been possible without you, and we have raised a substantial sum for the incredible service that is ChildLine.
