My name is Emma Kerins and I am in second year in Maynooth University studying Marketing. I am so delighted and privileged to be part of the 2015 100minds team.
This year 100minds chose the non- profit organisation Childline, an extremely worthwhile charity that is in serious need of our help and support. Childline is a vitally important service to the children of Ireland. It provides them with a listening ear and someone to discuss their problems with, however big or small they may be. Growing up I have always been lucky enough to have a very supporting family and group of friends. However not every child is as fortunate as I was. Without Childline so many children’s problems and worries would have gone unheard. In recent years, the charity has been pushed to its limits with a serious lack of funding. As a result, last year Childline was forced to launch an emergency appeal in order to stay in operation 24 hours a day and to continue helping Ireland’s youth. The appeal was successful but it is a fulltime struggle for them to continue with the fantastic work they do.
Collectively our aim is to raise 1 million euro for Childline. My personal goal is to raise as much as I can, with €1000 being my minimum. Any donation, big or small, would be really appreciated. Every last cent will go straight to Childline’s bank account and in turn towards giving children in Ireland a safe place to turn to when they feel like they have nowhere to go.
I am so looking forward to begin fundraising for this brilliant cause. Please help me along the way by clicking the 'DONATE NOW' button and giving whatever you can to Childline.
