I'm a final year Psychology student in UCD. I love keeping busy and organising events. I had my first real taste of charity work when I volunteered in Tanzania this summer teaching computers to teachers and English to children. I wish to continue my efforts to help others this year and 100minds seems like a fantastic way to do this. I hope to surpass the fundraising target!

At long last, my intention to meet my fundraising goal with one big event has been successful!
Before I even applied to 100minds, I intended on co-hosting a Charity Ball with another 100minds participant, in the hope that both of us could meet our targets of €1,000 from the one event. Throughout the early stages of ticket sales I was constantly updating a spreadsheet which detailed the breakeven point we would need to reach to make our targets. I was ecstatic when I realised early on that we would surpass our targets, and ticket sales just kept on coming in, even to the day of the event itself. I never anticipated that between us we could raise more than €7,000 for Childline!
While there were stressful times and a lot of man hours required in its organisation, it was a hugely rewarding project from which I have got to know some very interesting and capable individuals. I have also developed a broad range of skills which are integral to business, such as sales, marketing, budgeting, event management and maintaining stakeholder relationships.
I am so thankful for the motivation and support which Declan, his team and the 100minds framework constantly provided along the way. Were it not for the 100minds initiative I would likely not have organised this event!
