Me and a fellow 100minds participant organised a successful Fight Night that raised just under €6000 for Childline (after costs). We are delighted with the results. Excellent experience. Feels good to do good!

(The easiest way to get the money to Childline was to split all the money raised and upload it to our respective 100minds accounts. So thats what we did).

Hey, Guys.

My name is Dillon O'Neill and I'm a Chinese & International Business student at DIT. This year I'm delighted to be involved in the 100minds campaign.

This time around, 100minds and all of us students are hoping to raise a massive €1,000,000 for Childline. Everyone around Ireland knows how important Childline is. It offers an over-the-phone safe haven to all children throughout the country who might be going through any difficulties whatsoever. The people who are there to pick up the phone are a group of dedicated and simply inspirational people. But they need our help to make sure this service can continue.

The sad reality of it is that Childline only receives 10% in government funding. This means that 90% of their funds are earned through fundraising and donations. Last year, Childline were nearly forced to close their 24hour phone service. Thankfully they managed to effectively reach out to the public and raise enough money to keep this essential service going. But this just proves how much they rely on the public's help!

This is where 100minds, and myself, come in. We want to raise enough money to make sure Childline never have to struggle. We want to raise enough money to make sure children across the country know that if they should ever need to pick up the phone and call Childline, that there will be a reliable, friendly and helpful person there to pick it up.

So over the next 6 months, with the help of fundraising events and donations, I plan to reach (and hopefully exceed!) my target of €1000. If you are thinking about donating, just remember; no donation is "too small". Seriously. ANY donation is better than no donation. Whatever the number, just know that its going to an extremely deserving cause.
