My name is Amy Sutton, and I am in my first year studying Commerce in UCD. I am really grateful to be apart of the 100minds team this year to hopefully raise much needed funds for the charity Childline. Please donate if you can to this great cause! I am excited to put my fundraising ideas into action in the coming months!
Ladies Charity Night

Just a little update about my 100 minds fundraising.
Earlier this week I held my fundraising event. I am so passionate about health and looking after yourself and your body so I wanted to try and incorporate that into my event as I feel that it is easier to do something that you are interested in.
I had loads of different ideas but finally arrived at the idea of a Ladies Night, Promoting Health, Beauty and Well Being. So what I planned to do was to expose ladies to loads of Irish companies and people that can help them feel better and more confident about themselves.
I spent weeks on end chasing up companies to see if they would be interested attending the event and displaying what their product/ company had to offer.
I learnt a lot of very valuable lessons whilst I was approaching companies, some of them including the importance of contacts. When making a call if I made some kind of connection with the person e.g. a mutual friend they were much more willing to listen to me and help me to the best of their ability. I am a peoples person and I learnt to use that to my advantage by trying to approach people in person to talk to them about my event.
I train in Crossfit Bray and they were so kind to have let me use their gym as a location for my event. It is in a business park and not very glamorous, but with the help of my friends and family we decorated the place with fairy lights, balloons and candles.
I got some seriously amazing and extremely successful people and businesses on board for my event, we had the most amazing raffle prizes so kindly donated and goody bags with discount codes and freebies. The people that attended on the night set up amazing displays and got up and spoke in front of everyone that came.
I raised 1670€ on the night of the event through admission and raffle ticket sales. I was extremely delighted with how the event went and really appreciated all of the support I was given from friends and family.
I put 100% into this event, when I commit to something I give it my all and that's exactly what I did with this event. I am proud of myself for sticking to it even when so many people doubted me and when things all seemed to be going ways. I definitely think signing up to 100 minds was one of the most beneficial experiences of my life so far and am so grateful to have been given the opportunity to be able to participate and raise such crucial funds for such a worthy cause.
