Thank You - My Final 100minds Update

Posted: over 5 years ago

With the 100minds project drawing to a close I am delighted to have personally raised over €3,000 for children’s charities Barnardos Ireland and Blossom Ireland. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported my fundraising campaign, together we have raised funds which will ultimately transform the lives of children throughout the country. We, as a team, have comfortably surpassed our €150,000 start target, and none of this would be possible without your generous support.

My final 100minds event was held last week in co-ordination with a fellow participant and UCD student Luke O’Loughlin. We ran a 5-a-side zorb football tournament in UCD, the first of it’s kind on campus, raising another significant amount for our charities in the process. A thank you is due to all players and spectators who attended the event, we hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Thank you also to UCD Sports Centre, Pizza Hut Belfield and Airmax Inflatables who provided us with the equipment on the day, and of course a huge thank you to Deloitte who sponsored the event – your support made this event possible.

Thanks to everyone who supported my @100minds campaign, today's zorb tournament was my final event, more €'s raised! pic.twitter.com/StUEyRjX23

A reminder my rugby ball raffle will continue until project close, with any donation of €2 or higher to my fundraising profile between now and February 28th 2015 automatically entered into the draw to win a rugby ball signed by IRFU players such as Paul O’Connell and Johnny Sexton.

A final note to say thank you to everyone who has helped me in my fundraising efforts in any way over the past months, including the businesses who have backed my campaign. The 100minds initiative has been a fantastic experience, and I would highly recommend the project to any university student willing to go the extra mile for a fantastic cause. I gained valuable project management experience and met some extraordinary people through participating in the project. I never expected to hit the fundraising total that I did, I am aware of the transformative impact these funds will have on children’s lives nationwide and thank you for your support in helping me achieve this feat.

New Year's Update

Posted: over 5 years ago

A Happy New Year to all! Here’s to another fantastic year in 2015. I am writing to keep all my followers updated on my fundraising plans as we approach the deadline for the 100minds project. Having hit my target over the Christmas period, I am planning a further 3 events in an aim to boost my total, subject to demand.

The first event will take place this coming Saturday and Sunday (10th & 11th of January) in M&S Blackrock as I have secured a weekend bag packing slot to raise funds for our charities. If you are planning on shopping here over the weekend please do say hello and support our fantastic cause!

The second event is subject to demand from UCD students. I will be making use of my photography experience to run a professional headshot event. Students will have the opportunity to receive a professional headshot for their CV’s or LinkedIn profiles in return for a €5 donation to our charities. Date and venue is yet to be confirmed. For all UCD students, keep an eye out for the Facebook event page launching soon, and be sure to click ‘Going’ in order to register your interest!

My third and final event has been in the planning since the beginning of the 100minds project and subject to clearance we hope to confirm it in the coming week! I have partnered with a fellow 100minds participant and UCD student Luke O’Loughlin to organise a 16 team, 5-a-side zorb football tournament on campus next month. Keep an eye out for news of this event in the coming weeks!

As mentioned in my previous post, a huge thank you to Deloitte, Dublin who have kindly supported my efforts by sponsoring my 100minds campaign.

As always you can support our cause by making an online donation on my profile page, with every donation of €2 or higher going into the February raffle to win a rugby ball signed by the likes of Paul O’Connell, Johnny Sexton and Rob Kearney, a fantastic prize for any Irish rugby fan!

It is an exciting few weeks ahead for me and the rest of the 100minds team as we close in on our €150,000 target! Check my LinkedIn page and 100minds profile here for updates on my progress..

Christmas Update

I am delighted to announce I have today hit and surpassed my €1,000 target!

Reaching this feat prior to Christmas is a testament to the generosity of the public and everyone who has supported me in my endeavors thus far, including the local businesses who have backed me. I would like to take the opportunity to say a special thank you to the following businesses and individuals who have lent their support;

• Active Wear Sports, Blackrock

• Lloyds Pharmacy, Blackrock

• Dubray Books, Blackrock

• Print Zone, Stillorgan

• Art & Hobby Shop, Blackrock

• Oatlands College (Parents Council)

• Ger Byrne, UCD Students Union

A thank you is due to the following shopping centres and their respective management staff who allowed me to collect on behalf of our charities:

• Stillorgan Shopping Centre

• Dun Laoghaire Shopping Centre

• Nutgrove Shopping Centre

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank the Irish Rugby Football Union (IRFU), and the senior players who signed our rugby ball prize – REMEMBER, any donation of €2 or higher to my page between now and late February 2015 will automatically be entered into the draw to win the ball!

Finally, a huge thank you to Deloitte, Dublin who have sponsored my future events, details of which are to be announced in the coming weeks!

Without your support, none of this would be possible. I look forward to fundraising further in the New Year and raising even more for our fantastic children’s charities prior to the February deadline.

Wishing you all a Happy Christmas and New Year,

Ryan & the 100minds team.

L&H Strauss Ball 2014

Posted: over 5 years ago

In my first 100minds update I would like to take the opportunity to thank all guests at this year’s prestigious L&H Society Strauss Ball who donated to Barnardos and Blossom Ireland. This year's black-tie ball was held in the Crypt of Christ Church Cathedral, Dublin on Tuesday 11th of November 2014.

I photographed guests as they arrived at the venue, and in exchange offered the opportunity to donate to my 100minds cause. Thanks to the support of all guests I managed to raise just under €60 in a short space of time!

A huge thank you is due to the UCD Literary and Historical (L&H) Society who permitted me to collect for our two fantastic causes, and of course to the guests who dipped into their pockets to donate.
