My name is Niamh. Thanks for visiting my 100minds profile.
What is 100minds?
100minds is a fundraising initiative that challenges 150 Irish Students to raise €1000 each in 100 days. This is a charmingly simple yet incredibly effective concept that raised €137,000 for Temple Street last year. Bearing witness to this success inspired me to get involved.
What are we doing this year?
This year we aim to raise €150,000 for two amazing Irish Charities, Barnardos and Blossom Ireland.
Who are the Charities?
Through the running of educational and fun camps, Blossom Ireland offers children with intellectual disabilities the opportunity to access what every other typically developing child can without difficulty. After taking part in Clongowe’s Special Children’s Holiday, I understand how important these camps are not only for the children but for their parents. I firmly believe that it has a huge impact on their lives, lasting long after the camps are over.
Barnardos work in some of the most disadvantaged communities in Ireland improving the life prospects of children who face barriers like poverty, abuse, neglect or bereavement. After working with kids from disadvantaged areas in the Liberty House Homework Club and the UCD Access Centre’s Outreach Programme, I know that these programmes change the lives of children. I have witnessed it. These programmes allow kids to reach their full potential, something that no child should be denied.
I truly believe that by simply letting these children be kids these charities are making this country a better, safer and happier place for children in Ireland and I am proud to be part of this.
What am I going to do?
I will be running a few fundraising events. In keeping with the theme of providing better futures and prospects for the children of Ireland, I am planning a Project Maths Charity Revision Course. Based on the demand for Project Maths courses and my experience as a tutor, I am hoping this will be a great success.
