Hi Guys,
My name is Michael Murphy. I am a second year Commerce student in UCD and I am delighted to say I have been selected to be one of the fundraisers for this years 100 minds.
100 minds is an initiative which sets a goal for 150 Irish students to raise €150000 for two wonderful and well deserving charities, Barnardos and Blossom Ireland. We each have been given a mentor from some of the worlds leading companies who will direct us and encourage us to raise as much as we possibly can.
The minimum target for each student is to raise €1000 and every single cent of this money gets divided between the two charities, I however hope and strive towards raising much more than the target set out as every single extra euro gained for these charities goes a long way to helping children who are greatly in need of help.
Barnardos is a charity which works with vulnerable children and their families providing services and support in 40 centres all over Ireland. They have helped the lives of so many young Irish children and they are always desperately trying to receive more donations as they know that there are so many more children who need their help, we at 100 minds set out to make this possible.
For More information check out there website at www.barnardos.ie
Blossom Ireland provides support and care for children with special needs and provides them with a special camp that they can attend as many of these children are unable to attend mainstream camps due to disability. Blossom Ireland receive no state funding and can really benefit from all donations and 100 minds will truly make a huge difference for all children involved.

First Mistake

Today I decided to send out tweets to just about every single celebrity on the earth. This perhaps was not the most productive way, although a few did retweet, which surprised me, none of their followers donated.
Although, that being said I was contacted from Ken Doherty, a famous snooker player, who has shown an interest in helping me and with that in mind, if of course he is available I may run a snooker tournament in my local club and he could attend for a meet and greet or perhaps an exhibition, which would generate huge interest!
So maybe it wasn't a waste of time after all.....
My Final Update!

We did it! We more than did it, we raised almost quarter of a million euro!!
I have to say I am so proud to have been a part of this fantasitic initiative and I encourage anyone who is even half thinking about doing it to grab it with both hands! This is by far the best experience I have ever had, knowing that you have the ability to change lives and to make a difference is something that I defintely would not have believed I could do before 100minds.
I am proud to say that I raised €2770 of that total figure, which I never would have imagined raising at the beginning of this process. My aim at the start was to get to €1000 but as soon as I hit that figure I just wanted to push for more and more.
My final event was the Four Star Pizza Charity CheeseBall! held in The Dublin Airport Hilton hotel which was a huge success! Close to 100 people turned up on the night and I raised over €1000 from that night alone.
I would just like to thank every single person who helped me reach this amount, be it by donations, attending my events or by helping me out at events etc. I know I would not have come close to this amount without you all.
Finally back!

Sorry about the serious lack of updates! Had all my exams before Christmas and then been so busy over the Christmas!
First off, let me tell you about the success of my pub quiz!
Wow, I was so impressed with the turn out, around 40-50 people showed up and I raised €710, so that means I've already moved past the target of €1000 but I don't intend on stopping!
Next up, I'm either trying to organise a ball or a bubble football tournament.
I have the backing of Four Star Pizza to supply food for an event but I am struggling to find a location which will allow me to provide food from an outside source, so hopefully I will find one soon.
I have been in contact with Astro Park about setting up the Bubble Football tournament and am just trying to iron out the last few details.
