Hi everyone and thanks for visiting my 100minds profile!
I am delighted to be taking part in the 100minds project; a great initiative that involves students working together to raise money for two very worthy charities, Blossom and Barnardos. What makes this a unique fundraising opportunity is that we can see the results of our efforts. To learn more about the charities and why your support is needed please visit

Our goal this year is to raise €150,000 which will help to transform the lives of thousands of Irish children. I aim to raise awareness through organising events and activities. My target is €1000 and I need YOUR help to reach it. Over the coming months I will be updating my 100minds journey through this profile.

Soccer Blitz

I decided to kick-off my fundraising campaign by holding a Soccer Tournament for the 3rd and 4th class in St. Mary's primary school in Rathfarnham.
I was really keen on the idea because not only would I raise some money for these two great charities, Barnardos and Bloosom, but it would also raise awareness among the younger generation. I met with the principal to get his permission to go around to the classrooms and speak with the boys for a few minutes about the event and what impact they could have on other children. Each child was given a letter to bring home to their parent with more information and how to make a donation!
The event was held in Leicester Celtic who provided the astro pitches free of charge. I had raffle tickets, a sweet shop and prizes for the winning team, many of which were kindly donated. There were eight teams with 45 players in total. The parents were supporting on the side lines.
It was a great day and the weather help up for a couple of hours! I want to say a BIG thank you to the family and friends who helped out to make this day such a success.
Golf Competition

On the 5th of December I held a very successful Golf Competition in aid of Barnardos and Blossom Ireland.
My idea was to hold a golf competition and Christmas raffle in Ballinascorney Golf Club in Rathfarnham. In order to prepare for the day I got in touch with numerous businesses who very kindly donated prizes ranging from vouchers for restaurants, hairdressing/make-up, family activities and shopping to Christmas turkeys and wine! Participants were also able to get a photo taken and placed on a cup, an ideal Christmas gift. There were approximately 30 players on the day.
I firstly contacted the golf club to ask permission to hold the event. I then got in contact with the women's golf society to propose how and when the competition would take place. Availability, weather conditions and other time constraints were some of the factors considered. Once the venue and date was organised I directed my focus towards the Christmas raffle. Using my existing contacts and creating new ones along the way, I managed to collect some amazing prizes for the event.
The competition ran smoothly on the day. The players were invited back to the clubhouse for refreshments, as we tallied the results. We then held the Christmas raffle. It was a great success as almost everyone went home with one of our generous gifts. Along with fundraising, the event helped to create awareness for these two charities. Thank you to the friends and family who helped to make this such a great day!
