Hello and welcome to my 100 Minds profile page!
My name's Declan and I'm a 2nd year Business and Management student in DIT.
I jumped at the idea of the 100 Minds initiative as I'm enthusiastic about discovering the practical side of business, the side not shown throughout college, and by working alongside others as part of the 100 Minds Team I have been given the unique opportunity to do so. The added bonus that helps drive 100 Minds is the undeniable difference that we are making to children's daily lives across Ireland.
I've had some previous experience fundraising for local charities and for a trip to Zambia where I volunteered in the Summer of 2013, so this project is something I really believe in and I'm delighted to have been chosen to join the team!
Last year 100 Minds raised €138,000 and if you'd like to see the real impact the project has for children please watch the impact video from last years programme http://www.100minds.org/impact! The great thing about 100 minds is transparency. You can see where every single cent you donate goes which allows real peace of mind for you and for us participants working hard to fundraise.
All you have to do to donate is click the 'DONATE NOW' button up the top of my profile, and please, donations of all shapes and sizes are welcome!
Please follow my profile and come back to see how I'm getting on throughout the project or if you have any fantastic fundraising ideas tell me at DeclanKickham@gmail.com
Ideas
Posted: almost 8 years ago
I've compiled a list of heaps of ideas and I'm evaluating each one at the moment. Had some really enthusiastic replies to emails I've sent to people which is more than I was expecting when asking for things for free!
Some ideas I've come up with which I'm seriously considering at the moment:
Race Night (My favourite so far), 5 Aside Football tournament (could be a lot of fun!), Charity Rugby match Trinity vs UCD, Comedy night
More updates to come!
Emails after emails
Posted: almost 8 years ago
Spent the evening tonight sending out emails to lots of different clubs and colleges looking for a venue to run a tag rugby tournament. No replies as of yet but I'll update when I get a few :)
On another note I'm flying emails back and forth with Leopardstown Racing track trying to organise some form of race day.. At the moment it doesn't look like a runner but we're talking through possibilities.
Lots more work to come, enjoying everything so far!

Really cant wait to get this event going it should be a lot of fun and hopefully make a few $$ for the charities :) Also waiting on a reply from Leopardstown after I had an in-depth conversation with them the other day about organising a smaller race day for students arouund January/Feb time.. More info to come soon!
Insurance for 5 Aside Tournament

Along with Dan Lambert, another participant, we've successfully managed to get our insurance sponsored! Took us a while but now we've provisionally booked UCD 5-Aside pitches for Thursday the 8th of January and we'll be ready to start rolling out the event details next week..
Charity Race Day

After heaps and heaps of organisation and a meeting in Leopardstown I've managed to secure the Panoramic suite for 160 people for Sunday the 25th of January 2015.. Leopardstown have given me the best room in the house FREE which is pretty amazing and Fitzers caterers have designed a student menu for the day.. Hoping to sell tickets at €50 to begin with and maybe a deal for large groups or tables. I've got a band playing on the day and the racing line up looks great with Hurricane Fly looking to defend his title for the second year running. Seriously looking forward to this.
Hit the mark

After finishing both my events, the football tournament and the race day, I've succesfully hit the €1000 mark! I manually donated the final amount in cash from the football tournament and race day combined this morning.
The race day was a great success, after a lot of hiccups along the way, raising €545, while the football tournament raised €236. Both days were great fun and a great learning experience!
