2nd of November
Greetings and welcome to my 100minds profile,
I'm absolutely delighted to be taking part in the 100minds initiative this year. The example set by the team of 2013 was incredible and their hard work helped the Temple Street Hospital beyond measure. The idea of a collective force having such an effect for good in our community is something that appealed to me from the second I heard about it, so I'm chuffed to join the team.
Some boring stuff about myself and how I plan to help the team, I'm 19 years old and studying Commerce in UCD. I have experience in fundraising through various events during my time in my Secondary School, St.Michael's College. I plan on hosting a number of events and hopefully if executed properly will help me exceed the target set for us. I have plenty of ideas at the moment but they all need development and hard work to be the successes that they should be. I will host an event that even if I wasn't involved and it wasn't for such a great cause, I'd want to be there. I'll keep my page updated as I make these ideas happen.
If you still are undecided on if you feel like donating or not, I'd urge you to have a look at the link below. These great charities need our support and any donation, big or small, has a huge effect on those who need it the most. It only takes a few seconds but the effects of your contribution is massive. I also link a breakdown of where exactly all the money raised will go, it is always nice to know how far your money goes to help all these brave children.

First idea pursued, first set back. Initially planned a 5-a-side football tournament in my college's facilities, followed by drinks and pizza with some awards given out in the clubhouse. The main set back was an obvious one, the Irish weather. Over the last 10 days the weather has taken a turn for the worse and I think I'd find it hard to manage to get any decent turn out for the outdoor event I had in mind. I also underestimated the difficulty of booking everything and arranging it to a decent standard. I genuinely thought a few phone calls and I'd be ready, I was proven terribly wrong. With the weather not looking any better in the coming weeks I decided to go back to the drawing board. I'm now planning a bigger and hopefully better event, that is probably a bit more suitable for the winter! Will post more when I have everything confirmed!
100Voices

Just finished the few final touches organising my event - 100Voices, a music night with great up and coming acts, followed by some of the best DJs from all corners of Dublin's nightlife. It will be taking place on the 15th of January. After contacting a host of Dublin's best venues, I've booked with The Button Factory who have hosted huge rock acts like Chic and Hozier, along with some great DJs such as Cyril Hahn and Krystal Klear. It has the perfect set up to host my event which needs to be able to cater for both live bands and DJs. I can't wait to get the event up and running. I've set it up on Eventbrite.ie and the tickets will go on sale this week when I set up the event page on Facebook. I hope the reaction is positive and people really want to go, I think that it will go well but I'm very nervous. Will update this as the event kicks off and let you know how it goes!
Launched

So I launched the event on Facebook on 3 days ago, on the 2nd of December. The response has been great so far. As it stands we have over 250 attendees on the Facebook event page and more importantly ticket sales have taken off too, I'd hope to sell out the discounted early bird tickets over the next week or so. It was a nerve wrecking experience making the event public and invitingall my friends and refreshing the page every 2 minutes to see how many have clicked attending. There's an unusual sense of putting yourself out there and the fear of failure and rejection sets in immediately. I have a huge new found respect for those who organise these events weekly. I'm really excited now for the event but in the meantime I'll be working on making sure it's a savage night for everyone who attends and trying to sell it out and raise as much money as possible. I have a few surprises in store and will keep this page updated as I go!
Target Reached

The event went brilliantly, bar a few hiccups which were to be expected, the night couldn't have gone better.
It was so busy the venue was at full capacity, which was a brilliant turnout but also disappointing to see people being turned away. At the end of the night when we sorted out rental and everything we had raised a total of €3500 for the two charities.
I'm over the moon with how it went, it was a daunting prospect but with great support from my friends and really the rest of Dublin it was a great night.
