Hey guys!

As we all know the excitement surrounding the arrival of the New Year is short lived and quickly overshadowed by the dreaded 'January blues'.

To try offset the drastic come down from the Christmas hype, we are all guilty of setting arguably over optimistic goals which give off 'feel good' vibes which help us get through the apparent longest month of the year!

Having tried this time and time again, and failed, I've decided to use 100minds as my motivator to ensure my New Years resolution won't end up being another fail!

In the past I ran long distance for a local club but with a hectic schedule in school and then college, I have never found the time to get back into training or clock up any descent mileage on the roads! Each year I say to myself I will get back into it this year but the reality is that I'm now doing my finals and haven't ran competitively in years!

100minds has given me the opportunity to raise money for such a worthy cause while doing something I absolutely love! On the 15th of February I will be running a 10k race with all funds raised going directly to Temples Street!

I understand that January is difficult month for all but just remember that any donation no matter how small will make a difference! Simple click 'Donate Now' on the top right corner of the screen!

Hi all!

Just a brief update on progress so far!

On Thursday last, myself and Sophie Fitzpatrick, a fellow classmate and participant in 100minds, held a class party for all Business and Law students which raised a massive €850!

We thought what better way to kick start our final semester in UCD but to arrange a night out which bore all the hallmarks of your typical college night out but with a charitable twist!

Ideally we wanted to have a night which would offer as much value as possible for those in attendance while requiring as little expenditure as possible on our behalf. So once our Christmas exams were finished, we reached out to as many people and businesses as possible to see if they were willing to get involved!

It is fair to say that we were absolutely blown away by peoples generosity! We were able to obtain drinks sponsorship from a number of different companies, free entry into a night club in Dublin's city centre, and a multitude of spot prizes to be given out as part of our raffle on the night.

Through collaboration, coordination, generosity and probably most importantly willingness on the part of our classmates, we were able to raise a total of €850 which went directly into both of our funds, getting us that bit closer to that €1,000 mark!

This experience has proved that even at relatively low-key and intimate events, substantial funds are there to be raised and that each euro raised makes a difference!

I would like to thank all those businesses who kindly assisted us along the way to ensure our night was a success!
