Craic,
If you're looking at this page then by now you have some idea of what I'm fortunate enough to be apart of. Myself and 99 other college students have teamed up with 100 minds to raise money for Temple Street Childrens' Hospital. Words are pretty cheap and unless you have first hand experience of Temple Street or have had a loved one who is or has been in TS then you probably don't know or understand just how vital this campaign is.
Personally, and luckily, I had never had the misfortune of needing the life saving work that the medical staff in Temple Street do every day. Nor have I had any loved ones that have needed Temple Street aid or care so I in fact didn't know the full extent of what went on in this hospital. However a year ago I worked on the Lindt fundraising campaign for Temple Street and met some of the kids who were currently patients at the time and their families. Witnessing a child aged 4-6 with a tube coming out of their nose is a sobering site. Instead of playing, running around and having their parents tell them to behave, these kids were in wheelchairs, exhausted from treatment and could only look at other 'fortune' kids who were able to play. The fact these kids are in the position they are is no ones fault, it's just the way it is. However how we treat these sick children can be helped by us.
My goal is to raise 1000 Euro and combined with the other 100minds members, we hope to reach 100,000 euro by the 11th February. Please donate what you can,if not to my 100 minds page, then to someone else's page. The money will help purchase life saving machines and will help reduce the cost for families who must travel up to Dublin from all over the country 2-3 times a week. When a child is sick, a family is affected. Please donate what you can. You will be identified on this page for your generosity. On the 28th of December, myself and other members will be hosting a tag rugby tournament to raise funds. The tournament is still being organised however I will keep all of you up to date with the details. As Christmas is a time for giving, the tournament is a great chance for you to do your part. Plus playing the tag should lose you some of that Christmas weight you put on.
Thanks for your time.

The Successful day

Firstly, thank you to absolutely everyone who donated to my page. Secondly, thank you to everyone who turned up on the day and participated in the tournament. I made the point that although people donating was the priority, it would have been disappointing had people not shown up and played.
Without doubt, the biggest and most meaningful project I've ever been associated with. A big congratulations to Declan and his team and to everyone behind the idea of 100 Minds. Its incredible to meet young Irish people who create such selfless institutions that make such a difference.
Thank you to the nightclub Madison for hosting the night and donating 50% of the door receipts to my cause. Thank you to Wanderers RFC for accommodating us on such short notice. Unfortunately the pitches in Old Belvedere RFC were deemed unplayable 24 hours before the event however Ronan was quickly able to confirm Wanderers RFC as the new host. Thank you to KC Peaches who donated sandwiches on the day, boy were they ever wholesome.
And finally, thank you to Ellen, Ronan and Michael. A great team to work with in organizing the day and ensuring the success of the event.
The 100 Minds experience is a thrill like no other. You yourself are responsible for the success or failure of the event. The fear of failure was a great driving force in the progression and organization of the day.
Our project aside, the issue at hand is of course the patients of Temple Street. These 'pateints' are children. Babies, 1-6 years young. They and their families experience the true worries of life. Unless you have been in their shoes or have experienced Temple Street yourself, it really is unimaginable to comprehend what these families go through. With the money raised through 100 Minds, I hope 2014 is a year that sees their 'patients' become children again.
An absolute pleasure to be associated with.

Tag Tournament

26 days out from the event and the day itself nearly sorted. Ronan McNamara got us sorted with Old Belvedere RFC to host the tournament. Michael Burke made a great event page for the day and is on top of getting all the supplies needed for the day, as well as organizing the time management aspect of the day. Myself and Ellen Butler delighted to team up with Madison Nightclub hosting the party that night and we're extremely grateful for their generosity in donating door receipts to the cause. Currently reaching out to as many media outlets as we can to promote the day. To our shock, slots for the day were filled up in a matter of hours. A big thank you to all our friends who immediately signed up to participate in the day. Team captains who will be donating to my page ; Kelly Coughlan, Joe O Sullivan, Kevin Jones, Mark McShane and my dear pal Conor Williams, can't thank you guys enough for signing up as quick as you did. I ll try my best to have the day rigged so one of you win. Will add again closer to the date.
10 Days to go.

With only 10 days remaining until the tournament, things are starting to come together. Teams' donations are being finalized and the logistics of the day have been confirmed. A big thank you to KC Peaches who donated food for the day, it'll be greatly received on the day I imagine. Old Belvedere RFC have been nothing but accommodating through all the preparations for the day. Still trying to sort other food outlets for the day but remain confident we ll find one. Can't thank Ellen, Ronan and Michael enough for their professional approach and teamwork to the task at hand. Excited now for the day to commence.
