100minds is a non-profit organisation that brings together 100 undergraduate students in Ireland. I am one of the chosen participants this year and hope through a series of fundraisers to contribute €1000 to Temple Street Childrens Hospital. Between the 100 students, our goal is to collectively deliver €100,000 to the hospital in just three months time.
100minds has worked very closely with Temple Street to ensure that all the money raised is spent wisely. You can find out more about the cause and check out the spend plan at 100minds.org.
You can donate to Temple Street Children's Hospital through my 100minds account by following the 'donate now' link on my profile. All donations however small or large are greatly appreciated and will help change a child's life. Thank you for your generosity.
My Fundraising

For my 100minds campaign I had planned and designed a table quiz which was to be held in the college bar in University College Cork, where I am a second year Public Health student. Due to the horrendous weather in Cork and the subsequent closure of UCC main campus, college bars and restaurants for two days I was forced to cancel the quiz. I tried to reschedule the table quiz for the Wednesday or Thursday of the following weeks but unfortunately both campus bars were booked up as was the cafe. I now realize that my planning was a little poor and realize that I did in fact leave it too late. In my planning I created 8 rounds of 10 questions, had organised prizes for the winning team through the bar and they had agreed to supply food free of charge. I created a facebook event in which 65 people had clicked attending, contacted my Students Union President who included the planned table quiz is his weekly email and contacted the clubs and societies to share the event on their pages. I am very disappointed that the table quiz did not go ahead in the end but I am happy with the planning and work I put into it. In the end I did not reach my target of €1000 but I will keep trying until the 28th. Due to my slow start I was forced to appeal to family and friends to help me attempt to raise at least some of the money I had intended on raising and I was overwhelmed with the response. I contacted three companies that I have had previous employment with, my primary school and clubs in which I have been involved with over the years and secured sponsorship from all. My total currently stands at €770 which I am very pleased with. 100minds has shown me that a lot of initiative and hard work is involved in fundraising and that a lot of credit is due to those who regularly do it. It has made me appreciate how much work is involved in raising money for charities and that it is a lot easier to do when people work together. It has also shown me that even in times of financial uncertainty people are still willing to support worthy causes like Temple Street Children's Hospital and that as a country Ireland has so many kind and generous people.
