As a student with a rare medical condition, I have been a patient in multiple hospitals throughout my life. As an adult, this has involved sitting in A&E departments for several days on end and as a child, it involved staying in ward rooms that featured few facilities suitable for both children and adults. As a result, I believe that I understand and appreciate the plight that the medical system is tackling in the current economic climate, particularly hospitals.
Temple Street Hospital is the most significant hospital in this state, given the nature of the illnesses that the child patients have to endure.
As a result, in order to raise money for Temple Street, I plan on participating in the Hell & Back race which involves running over the Sugar Loaf, electric wires and crawling under Barbed Wire fences. All in the name of charity!
In addition to this initiative, I previously worked for Trocaire in relation to a fundraising campaign for the Haitian earthquake
