Friends and Foes,
100Minds is an exciting initiative which presents an opportunity to apply an entrepreneurial flair to an extremely valuable social project. Traditionally, an entrepreneur is someone who spots an gap, fills it, and reaps the benefits of his/her efforts in the form of profit. What makes 100Minds different, is that the effort we put in is rewarded in perhaps the greatest way of all, by trying to make the 130,000 children Temple Street see every year, healthy. Spending months in a hospital is frankly, boring and so €27,000 is to be set aside to try and give these children as fun a childhood as possible. 100Minds however, is not entirely altruistic. It represents an opportunity, through partnership with large multi-national companies, to advance our career prospects by showcasing our respective abilities to potential future employers.
I am an 18 year old student in Trinity College Dublin. My approach to 100minds will be to organise events that people really want to attend, rather than simply doing so because it is for charity. This kind of approach will not be easy as there are events occurring every day of the week across Dublin, and making my own stand out, will not be an easy task. Nevertheless it can, and (fingers crossed!) will, be done. I have previous fundraising experience, raising over €5,000 in transition year for various different causes, and hope to use and improve the skills I learnt from this.
If you would like to make a donation, please click donate now which takes only a matter of seconds to complete! These funds are sent directly to the bank account of Temple Street childrens hospital where they will be spent as follows:http://100minds.org/assets/spend-breakdown.pdf
Thank you, John

A short update on my 100Minds plans,
I propose to hold two events in the 3 months we have to fundraise. The first of which is a Christmas dinner for TCD first year students to be held in the Harcourt hotel on the 11th of Dec. Demand appears to be strong for this event and tickets go on sale this Monday the 25th. I am co-organising this event with Laura Gallagher, a friend and fellow 100Minds participant.
However, I do not propose to stop there.
The second event I have planned is much bolder and has the potential to be huge. I am in the final stages of planning a 'white collar' boxing event in Dandelion nightclub on the 13th of February 2014.
The 30 boxers (15 fights) will undergo intensive training over 4 weeks with former olympian and european Irish boxers. At the end of this training they can expect a highly professional fight night arrangement including; a full size ring, an announcer, a ring card girl, a full DJ set and lights, personalised attire & entrance music and all fights streamed live to the TVs around the nightclub.
All going well this event could raise over €10,000. I am currently recruiting suitable candidates to fight.
