Hello Everybody, I'm Geraldine and I'm looking to raise €1,000 for Temple Street Children's Hospital through this free-dance class that I will be organising over the next few weeks!
My fund-raising idea is a simple one; you go into a darkened room and dance for an hour straight in a non-choreographed dance class setting. The reason that the room is dark is so that there's no need to feel embarrassed or self-conscious. This is a designated space for people to let loose on the dancefloor unaided by any alcohol etc., all while getting fit and contributing to a great cause! Cost is €7 and each and as mentioned, every cent goes directly to The Temple Street Children's Hospital so you'll be banking some serious good karma points on the night as well :)

I must admit that I'm really excited to take part in the 100minds initiative, especially now that I know exactly where the money is going to; upgraded life-saving machines, enhancing the hospital environment, and supporting families of sick children through the family hardship fund.
I hope to raise the majority of my money through these dance classes, but I would ask any people who wont be able to attend them, to please donate whatever you can through this website -genuinely every euro is so hugely appreciated! By clicking 'Donate Now' on the top right hand corner of the screen your money goes directly to the Temple Street 100minds fund and the projects specifically mentioned above.
Thank you in advance for your support, all the best

Dancing In The Dark #2

As my second Dancing In The Dark was been completed, I must admit to breathing a huge sigh of relief!
This event was leaps and bounds more successful than the last, and I can't express enough thanks to those who came and supported my endeavor (special thanks goes out to all the returnees!).
Thankfully word had already gotten out about how enjoyable the last event was from past participants so people were definitely warming to the idea. I also paid a lot more attention this time around on broadcasting the event, both online and in-person to whoever I happened to meet in the weeks and days coming up to "D-Day".
In the end I got about 30 participants (double that of my last event), and the feedback was so positive that people were asking me to make "Dancing In The Dark" a regular weekly event!
I felt really proud of the progress that I had made between the two events, having achieved my goal of doubling the attendance from the first one.
Although organizing these events was a bit nerve-wracking, I now appreciate what an invaluable learning curve the whole experience was and I know what is needed to create a successful event, generate hype and ensure attendance.

My first attempt at organising a Dancing In The Dark Event has come and gone and this was a real learning curve for me, to say the least!
I found it a little bit difficult to get people open to my idea of dancing in a room for an hour, un-aided by any alcohol etc., however, I was thrilled to see that people who did come along really had a brilliant time!
I tried to keep costs to a minimum; I managed to get a discounted price for the hall (after some haggling!), and was lucky enough to have a friend loan me his sound system for the night. As such, my main concern was ensuring enough people attended the event so as to cover the price of hiring out the hall, and of course raise as much funds as possible for Temple Street.
In the end I got a group of about 12 lively and enthusiastic dancers to take part, and those who couldn't make it were really generous in their donations.
Although I was so appreciative to those who came, I was determined to get a better turn out for my next event!..
